Everyone should have this information on their signature:
Your character's name - gender - position in the herd - mate
Use the format you please but do have the information.
Also, if you're going to have an image, it can't be something that'd stretch the board. The maximum signature size is 400 px in any direction. Any more and it would be excessive!
How to edit.
Go to "Profile" in the top link area.
Click "Modify Profile."
Scroll down until you see the Signature field.
Fill it out and click "Modify" at the bottom of the page.
All Right, I Think I Get It...[/u]
Good! If you clearly understand the main rules of the forum, go on to read the Subplotting Rules and create your character!
Thank you guys so much for reading the rules! As you can tell, the character creation boards are locked with a password to get in. Since you read the rules, you will get the answer.

General Forum Rules[/u]
- We will give every new member with no posts 7 days to post their biography. That is plenty of time. If you have not posted in one week, you will be notified by an admin or another staff member with a warning.
- If you post your character biography as a work in progress, you have two weeks to finish it. Seriously guys, that is more than enough time. Your character's biography will be temporarily locked if you do not finish your bio in two weeks' time. However, if you would like an administrator to re-open the account, you can ask.
- Each member may only have one account. You can have a total of six characters, but they must all be active and on the same account as your main character.
- Join as your favorite character's name.
- Please, fighting and bickering is very annoying to deal with. Anyone who is having trouble with another member, please. Don't make it a big deal. If you feel you are being threatened in any way, please contact me, the administrator, about your problems.
- We really dislike thieves. Anyone who is caught committing thievery will be promptly banned. No second chances. Anything stolen from this website or any other website will be deleted and the members banned or suspended, depending on how many previous offenses have occurred.
- No cursing, please! IC or OOC.
- Some rules aren't spoken here, but they should be common to you. Please, use common sense. Read the Proboards TOS you have to agree with before joining.
Please note that one of these common sense rules include no posting images that are obscene in any way. I will have to ban you if you do so.
Main Characters and Character Creation[/u]
- Every member must have a main character, and the main character must be a part of the herd. No outcasts are allowed to be your main character. Your main character does not necessarily have to be your most used character, but just the character that either you like the most or the character you first created.
- This is a DEER ROLEPLAY. . However, your deer may be a "deer-man", or a deer that walks on two legs and has hands, fangs, etc. This is the future, so anything is possible within the limits of the rules. You may also choose to play something apart from deer or deer-men, you know, but you must have a deer character in the herd first and you must get an admin's permission.
- When I say that this is a Deer Roleplay, this can include forest deer, reindeer, caribou, or anything remotely related to them.
- Your character can have armor, clothing, jewelry, or whatever. Please keep in mind that the technology of the deer-men is similar to what we had in the Stone Age.
- Only one main character please. If you want to change your main character, please let the administrator know and change your profile's display name to the new main character's name.
- Any omega (normal member) has a character limit of six characters each. Any character that is your seventh, you must delete one of your other characters. However, staff members, betas, and deltas have unlimited character creation. You must get permission from one of the administrators to have another character if you are at the limit.
Outcast and Rogue Characters[/u]
- An outcast character is a character that has been rejected in a border thread, whereas a rogue character just has no wish of being a part of the herd at all.
- Outcasts and rogues are only permitted into the Roleplay Areas of Shattered Hooves' territory with permission from Bambi. And I normally grant permission if you ask nicely.
- Outcasts and rogues are allowed to stir up trouble in Shattered Hooves' territory, again, with permission from Bambi. All combat rules apply with rogues and outcasts as they do with normal deer characters.
Roleplay Expectations[/u]
- This website is free for all levels of "literacy". The only rule in that respect is that you have to do your best to keep up with the person you're roleplaying with. This means that if Jack posts three paragraphs, you need to give him at least two. Oneliners ARE accepted but more detail is encouraged.
- Spell check is a gift from God. Use it, please.
- Proper grammar is always amazing too. Use it as well.
- No harassment based on roleplay skills. Intermediate can RP with advanced, and likewise for advanced. Any harassment found will be treated as such.
- Try to keep the In Character stuff in character only, and the Out of Character stuff in out of character. That means, don't let the in character roleplaying feuds get in the way of how you feel about the actual member. This stops many unnecessary fighting.
- Seasons in Shattered Hooves follow the same pattern in the United States of America. That means, in December, it will be snowing.
- Roleplays occur in third person.
- Faces in OOC posts (i.e. xD xP x3 ^_^; etc.) are completely acceptable. Just don't put them in your roleplay posts.
- While roleplaying, a posting order must be strictly followed. About the posting order. Deer A and Deer B are roleplaying. The order is: Deer A, Deer B, Deer A, Deer B….and so on. Later, Deer C decides to join in. The order now is A, B, C, A, B, C… and so on. If this is confusing, feel free to PM a staff member and we shall explain it for you.
"Combat" Rules[/u]
- No violence. Yeah, you heard me. Many roleplay sites are all about blood and sadism and killing and Shattered Hooves isn't going to turn into one of those on my watch. If fights happen they must be mere struggles, think of it like a sumo fight, where a stronger deer is decided and the loser escapes unharmed.
- If you really have to kill something you will have to do it offscreen. By example for a hunt, the pursuit may be roleplayed, as may be the cooking or whatever done with it afterwards (still, reserve from posting any stomach-churning details) but the actual killing is not.
- Powerplaying is forbidden. This is when you control someone else's character. If this definition is unclear to you, contact me.
- You've made it this far. The password at the top's a fake. The real password is
not"finding suzie." - Godmodding is forbidden. This is when you say that your character is invincible and cannot die and cannot be defeated, or that they're all powerful and can crush you instantly. If this definition is unclear to you, contact me.
- If any violations of these occur, I will automatically pronounce the opposing member the winner and the perpetrator will be sentenced to a 5 day ban.
Roleplay Expectations[/u]
- No breeding is ever allowed to be roleplayed! Not in the boards, not in Private Messages or anywhere else. Should I hear about any kind of pornography being posted on my board and it will mean a sure ban.
Refrain from putting sensual undertones on your posts. It's just disgusting and will get you a warning without fail. - If two characters want to have offspring you send a PM to an administrator with the following information: link to father's biography and link to mother's biography and any special petitions you might have.
The moment you receive the reply, the fawns are free to be played as. The birthing is not to be roleplayed, also. - Deer-men may only marry other bipedal deer and quadruped deer may only marry other quadruped deer.
Points Rules[/u]
- For every one post you make, 2 points will be added to your bank. This includes in character and out of character posts.
- If you submit a question to the FAQ, you will get 25 extra points per question. They must be good ones, however, and if they are annoying, spam-like, or another already submitted question just restated, 25 points will be deducted from your bank.
- If you would like to purchase something, please go to the Points Shop area and post a reply to the shopping list asking for what you want.
- Forget the password below the real REAL password is "clover". This is the password that is to be used. ChimChim
- If I see anyone abusing the points addition to the site, it will be promptly taken down.

Good! If you clearly understand the main rules of the forum, go on to read the Subplotting Rules and create your character!
- First, read all of the rules. Obviously. That was easy, wasn't it? xD Yes, yes, I know there are a TON of rules, but it's for your own benefit.
- Go to the Character Template area and copy the form provided.
- Go to the New Biography area and post your biography in a new thread with the title being your character's name. The first character you make will be your main character until changed.
- Wait for approval. You may choose a color to roleplay your character in. The color you choose should be different from any other color used for any character you yourself have active on SH. For example, Varaki's font color is black, whereas Mavv font color is green.
- Once your character has been approved, roleplay him or her in the Gateway to Freedom, where they will be accepted into the herd or rejected. Your rank will be stated here, too. EDIT. THIS IS NOW AN OPTIONAL ENTRANCE. YOU MAY ROLEPLAY ANYWHERE IN THE HERD WHEN YOUR CHARACTER HAS BEEN ACCEPTED.
Thank you guys so much for reading the rules! As you can tell, the character creation boards are locked with a password to get in. Since you read the rules, you will get the answer.
